Mixing and Matching Your Swimwear

In the wild world of fashion, rules are made to broken. This is especially true when it comes to swimwear. Wearing what looks and feels good to you is paramount, and that can often mean stepping outside of the norm to try something a little different.

Swim separates provide an opportunity to mix and match different styles to create a look that is uniquely you. Confidence is key when it comes to wearing swimwear, and this can be achieved by feeling comfortable, creative, and true to yourself.

Having the freedom to pick and choose separate tops and bottoms that work for you, your body, and your sense of style will fast track you to a summer of swimsuit confidence.

Rather than a list of rules, we have compiled a helpful guide to mixing and matching your swimwear. We hope this guide helps you choose swimwear that makes you feel fabulous and confident at the beach this summer.

Mix and Match Swimwear Separates

When we think of swim separates, our minds often imagine bikinis. While we love a cute bikini and encourage everyone to embrace this fiercely feminine look, there is more on offer in the world of two pieces.

Tankini tops come in a wide variety of styles to suit different shapes and sizes. Athletic women will love fitted racer back styles, while ladies with fuller busts will appreciate an underwire style. You can find swim tops for tummy control and coverage as well as sexy strapless styles for showing some skin.

Choose whichever tankini or bikini top takes your fancy and match it to your preferred swim pant style.

Go as brief or as full coverage as like with your bikini bottoms. Get cheeky in a high cut style or go full coverage with a ¾ pant length. You can even throw a skater skirt over the top and change the look completely.

There are no rules when it comes to mixing and matching your swimwear separates styles. It is completely up to you. A cheeky high cut pant looks great with a long sleeved rashie, just as a triangle bikini top works beautifully with a bike pant. Whatever you choose, wear it with confidence and you’ll look and feel amazing.

Mixing Colours and Prints

If the swim separates you’ve chosen aren’t in the same colour or print collection, fear not. Mixing and matching solids and plains is easy and can result in some sensational summer looks.

Whether you’re mixing solids with solids, patterns with plains, or print clashing, there’s only a few things you need to consider.

Firstly, all prints can usually be paired with black or navy. Most patterned swim collections will be created with this in mind. This is the easiest and safest way to mix prints and plains, and to find pieces that will work for you.

Print clashing can be a little trickier, but this is where you can experiment and create totally unique and individual looks. Stripes, checks, dots, and animal prints are almost always considered neutral. Pairing one of these prints with a floral in similar colour tones is a great place to start your print clashing journey.

If you are mixing solids with solids, make sure the two shades aren’t too similar. Two differing shades of pale pink won’t look as good as a pale pink mixed with a bright fuchsia. In the same way that navy and black won’t work as well as say navy and lilac, or black and grey.

Mix and Match with a One Piece Swimsuit

If you want to wear a one piece swimsuit but add a little interest, this can easily be done with the addition of a rashie. You can choose to print clash, mix block colours, or simply match a print to a plain. Wear your rash vest open, zipped up, or tied at the waist to create a cute, cropped jacket.

You can also add a fun swim skirt to a one piece to completely change the look. A skater skirt looks great with a strapless bandeau one piece, and can easily be worn on and off the beach.

A zip front swimsuit can be worn undone with a swim bra or bikini top underneath. Show off your fabulous cleavage or a clashing print with a pretty bikini top. This is also an ideal option for women who require the extra support offered by an underwire bikini top.

Whatever you choose to wear, confidence is key. You can pull off anything with your head held high and a spring in your step. So mix and match with wild abandon and rock your new swimwear with confidence this summer.
